What Are Your Goals?

What Are Your Goals?

When most people talk about their dream bodies or getting healthy, the plan is abstract. Someone will say “I want to lose weight” or “I want to weigh 120 pounds again” and that’s a good place to start. However, the reason that so many of these plans fail is that there is no real plan. You wouldn’t say “I want to build a house” and then start without having blueprints, would you? Think of your body like a building that needs to be put up. You need a solid foundation, a good layout, the materials to build, and the plans done by a professional. While not everyone can have a professional work with them on their ultimate body goal, the concept is basically the same. You need to have a plan before you can reach the goal.

Houses don’t get built overnight. It takes a great deal of time and effort to put one up. The same is true of getting the body you've always wanted. You can try to get down to your goal measurements and such with just an end result in mind, but it is far more difficult. You need to figure out what needs to change in your diet, in your exercise plan, and in your daily life to get you to that goal. Those plans are just like the blueprint to a house. The more detailed they are, the better you will do. There won’t be any guessing or hoping when it comes to your path if you have everything written down and planned out. While life might throw you a couple of curve balls, it’s much easier to stay on track when you already have an established idea and set plan in regards to making yourself look and feel better again.

If you are unsure about how to achieve your goals, come on into CoolSculpting by ThinSculpting and meet with one of our certified CoolSculpting technicians. Treating Your Problem Areas

Treating Your Problem Areas

When it comes to losing weight, there are a lot of different things that you need to consider. There is often a conversation about how weight is different for everyone. After all, the thing that most people want to work on is actually their fat content. This means how much of their weight is caused by extra fatty tissue versus other things such as muscle, which weighs more than fat. When you look at the scale, it is important to remember that different things can be causing that number and you shouldn't always base your next health related decision of off of that single point of reference.

If you are working on losing weight, one of the first things that a lot of people notice is that they drop a few pounds almost immediately. This can do two different things. One is that it makes them feel great about their work-out habits and give them a boost of confidence. The other possibility is that it can make them feel like they have even more work to do than they thought, because losing weight is often described as difficult. The problem with either of these is that the rate of weight loss will not be sustained forever, as you do tend to lose quite a bit of weight when you first start working out. This is due to water weight.

Water weight is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. It is weight that registers on the scale due to how much you drink but don't sweat back out. This is water that is left in the body in addition to the 50%-60% that you should naturally have as an adult. This water can cause puffiness or bloating which can increase the appearance of fat. When you exercise, this tends to reduce quickly and therefore you may seem to lose a good amount of weight quickly. This means that when you suddenly don't lose as much weight as you did last week, you shouldn't feel discouraged. It's just that now you're getting down to the actual fat as opposed to excess water.

How Sleep Affects Your Body

Sleep and Weight

Although many people may not realize how strong the connection between sleep and your health is, it doesn’t change the fact that the two are heavily linked. Studies have shown that not getting enough sleep can lead to decreased mental dexterity, reduced reaction time, and even unwanted weight gain. This means that even if you are doing your best to exercise and eat a balanced diet, you may still be gaining weight. This is why it is important to make sure that you are getting the full recommended amount of sleep each night, which can range between eight to 10 hours depending on your age and medical situation. While it seems unfair that your lack of sleep may also be impacting your weight, it's important to realized just how linked everything is in your body.

When you are sleeping well, things tend to go better for you. If you are building a house, you need to give yourself the right tools to complete the task. Life is no different. Sleep is like a hammer if you’re putting a couple of pieces of wood together. You need something to get the nail into the board. Although it may seem counter-intuitive to take a nap when you’re trying to lose weight instead of exercise, it might be what you need. It is always important to listen to your body, and if it’s saying that you need to sleep a little instead of going to the gym to try and lose weight, it might be the best idea to do just that.

One of the great things about CoolSculpting by ThinSculpting is that you can do both at once! When you come in for one of our FDA-Cleared procedures, you will have an hour or so of down time. How Stress Affects Your Health

Stress and Weight Loss

Stress is one of those universal factors that unite us all. I don’t know about you, but I have never met someone who doesn’t live with at least some level of stress. While stress is a normal part of life, many of us are stressed almost every day, and sometimes to an unhealthy level. Between work, family, school, and a million other little things that make up our lives, something is bound to keep us up at night. When stress starts affecting your eating and sleeping habits, that’s when something needs to change.

One of the biggest issues with stress, other than the constant feelings of anxiety and dread that it causes, is the potential weight gain. Many people “stress eat”, which means they snack or eat full meals even if they aren’t hungry simply because they feel stressed. In case you never paid attention to someone stress eating, it is rarely healthy food that gets eaten during a stress-induced feasts either. Even for people who don’t eat when they get stressed, their weight can still be affected. Losing weight when done based on the fact that you didn't eat is not a healthy thing either. It is always important that you focus on your overall health more than just the numbers that you see on a scale. Regardless of how much weight you may seem to lose based on your stress levels, it is wildly unhealthy to stay in a constant state of stress. Make sure that your mental health doesn’t suffer due to your physical goals.

Exercising is a great option to help you deal with both stress and your weight. Even low impact activities such as yoga can help with both issues and it doesn’t cause anywhere near as much strain on your joints as traditional weight loss methods like running. If exercising doesn’t seem to help you reduce your stress levels, try and find another healthy alternative and see how much that can impact your weight and mood.

If you are looking to get rid of stress related pockets of fat, look no further than the non-invasive, FDA-cleared fat freezing procedure known as CoolSculpting. Having a stressful life is not out of the ordinary, but feeling bad about how you look should be.
