The Different Kinds of Weight

The Different Kinds of Weight

Not all weight is created equal. If you think about what a five pound bag of sugar looks like versus a five pound box of craft stuffing, you'll see what I mean. Both weigh the same, but they get there in very different ways. If you were only looking at the number on the scale, however, you would never know that there was a difference at all. So what does this have to do with you and your body? Well, just like the stuffing and the sugar are different kinds of weight due to their innate density, you have different kinds of weight inside you as well.

The type of weight that we think about most when we talk about it in regards to the number you see when you step on the scale is fat. Fat is the kind of weight that you want to have less of. While you are never going to want to have 0% body fat, you do want to keep this number relatively low. Fat is the type of weight that most people don't like seeing on themselves. The important thing to remember, however, is that it is not the only thing that can cause the scale to read so high.

Anything and everything has weight. This means that absolutely everything that makes up your body will react with gravity to have a certain number attached to it. The density of different parts of your body will change the number. Bone will weigh different than blood, just the same as the sugar and the stuffing. Muscle, for example, weighs more than fat. This is why it is important to remember that not every number on the scale is created equally. It is also a good idea to consider your measurements and such when you are thinking about your weight.

How We Treat Back Bulges

How We Treat Back Bulges

It can be extremely frustrating to realize that even if you've done a lot of work to slim down, there's almost always still something you don't like when you look in the mirror. What's even worse is when you don't normally get to see it yourself. If you can't see something, you don't always know that you want or need to fix it. This is a large amount of the problem that people see with things like how their weight is distributed around their back.

One of the biggest problem areas that people realize they have too late is their back. While this isn't as much of an issue in the winter, in warmer seasons when you're trying to keep cool it can be a major source of embarrassment. This is especially true if you are trying to wear a swimsuit and you realize that your back bulges are ruining the shape of your suit. Fat deposits that spill out over the top of your suit or give you rolls under the fabric can be annoying at best, but they do often cause someone to simply not wear something they were excited to purchase. This is when we know that something needs to be done, because no one should have to be uncomfortable in their own skin.

Back fat is one of the trickiest things to get rid of because there aren't many exercises that you can do to specifically target it. While arms and legs generally have at least a few things that you can do to tone the muscles up, backs are notoriously difficult. While general weight loss can help, it may not do enough to get you the look you're going for. This is when we can step in.

Here at ThinSculpting, we know just how important it is for you to be happy with how you look. That's why our certified CoolSculpting technicians will work with you to develop a plan that will give you the body you've always wanted. With locations in Raleigh, Cary, and Durham, we are always able to help you out if you are near the Triangle Region. We know how important it is that you look and feel great from all angles. Give us a call to schedule your appointment and let us help you find the thin that is in you!

Fat and Your Job

Fat and Your Job

We always hear dozens of different explanations as to why certain people have to deal with their bodies taking on the shape they do. For many people it comes down to things like genetics or what they eat. While there are obviously some medical issues that can impact how you look and where your fat likes to congregate in your body, those aren't the only factors that you need to take into consideration when you're trying to figure out why you can't seem to get rid of those problem areas. There are also a few things that you can help just by changing a few things about your normal day.

One of the biggest problems that people have in regards to their weight settling in certain areas is their activity. While we certainly aren't saying that everyone needs to be moving all the time, it has been proven that physical activity can help you get into or stay in shape. Unfortunately, due to work and such, not everyone has the time to really get in a lot of physical activity. When your job also includes a lot of sitting down, it can have a very real effect on where your fat seems to settle. This can mean that you end up with larger problem areas than you would have otherwise.

With any sort of sedentary position, it isn't uncommon for someone to notice that they're gaining weight. The issue often comes when they're mostly gaining weight in one area. If you sit a lot for your work, this is probably in your buttocks and lower stomach. This is also, unfortunately, one of the most difficult areas to lose weight from once it's there. We all know how hard it can be to stand up and walk around at work, but there are little things that you can do at your desk which can help you cut down on those fatty areas so you don't have to try and cram it all in after you clock out.

If you have found that you can't seem to get rid of that last little bit of flab from having to sit down at work all the time, you aren't alone. Give us a call at 800-8THIN-YOU and make an appointment at one of our Triangle Region offices to meet with our technicians who can help you find the thin that is in you!

How Long Will It Take for Me to See Results?

How Long Will It Take for Me to See Results?

In today's world, almost everything has instant gratification. You have instant coffee you can make in the morning, instant messaging so you can talk to family, friends, and coworkers, and you even have instant replay in case you happened to miss something in the broadcast the first time around. There almost never seems to be a wait for anything. You can click a few buttons on your phone and order food to be ready when you walk in, making that nearly instant too. So why would you want to do anything that you have to wait for? Well, there may still be some things that are worth the wait, especially when they have to do with your body.

If you are unhappy with how you look, you aren't the only one. This can be a good thing or unfortunate depending upon how you look at it. It may even be both. While there are things that you can do nearly instantly to help yourself look better, these are just as temporary as can be. Things like shapewear may do a wonderful job, but they don't help you stay that way. Our process, however, will last longer even if it does take more time to begin with.

Most people who experience CoolSculpting procedures will see their results within a few weeks. While this may seem like a long time to wait, it is important to remember that we are changing something on a cellular level of your body. If it were to happen instantly, it would probably be far more uncomfortable than it is. While it may take a little longer than we are used to waiting for the results to show, it will also be well worth the wait. We know that it can be frustrating to have patience, but when it is something as important as this, it's always better to take it slow.

If you want to look great and don't mind it taking a few weeks, give us a call. By dialing 800-8THIN-YOU or using our online scheduling tool, you can make an appointment with one of our certified CoolSculpting technicians for your consultation. We know that it can feel strange having to wait for something again, but we also know that it's going to be well worth the wait. Our results can be incredible and we can't wait for you to see just how great you look when we help you find the thin that is in you!

Measurements vs. Scale

Measurements vs. Scale

For everything that we hear and say on a common basis about our bodies and what our “target weight” is, and how we think we look, there is one glaring oversight. We seem to forget that muscle weighs more than fat, and that this will skew your numbers. Trying to lose weight by working out at a gym may help on some level, but if you are also gaining muscle mass you might feel like you aren’t accomplishing much. It is important that you don’t get discouraged if you don’t see much movement from that little needle on the scale. After all, the number isn’t what really matters when it comes to getting the body you want.

One of the best ways to monitor your progress to your dream body is to keep an eye on your measurements. Hips, waist, and chest are the most common areas that will get measured, but you may also want to keep an eye on the measurements from your “problem areas”. These can include thighs, arms, and buttocks. Keep a record of your measurements from the beginning of your journey and redo them every time you want to check in on your progress. You may be surprised at how much better you feel seeing those inches drop away, regardless of what the numbers on the scale tell you.

The number that you see when you weigh yourself is not the only, or even main, metric you should use when it comes to your body. It is unhealthy for anyone to focus strictly on a number and this is especially true when it comes to your weight. There are always other methods and measurements that can be used when it comes to your body, so be sure to utilize all of them to get the best image of your health.

If you aren’t seeing the change in your body measurements that you want to, come into CoolSculpting by ThinSculpting. Our certified CoolSculpting technicians can help you figure out a plan that will get you the body you’ve always wanted. We believe that every person deserves to be happy with how they look. You will be amazed at how much of a difference our FDA-Cleared body sculpting procedure makes, so give us a call at 800-8THIN-YOU today to make an appointment in Durham, Cary, or Raleigh. We can’t wait to help you find the thin that is in you!
