The Dangers of Fad Diets

The Dangers of Fad Diets

If we’ve said it once, we've said it a thousand times: one of the most dangerous things that you can do is go on a fad diet. We know how difficult it can be to try for months or even years to lose weight, but jumping into a diet without doing a good amount of research or talking to your doctor can be extremely damaging to your body. Most of the time, diets that become mainstream do so because they show a large difference in a short amount of time. While we understand that no one wants to wait a long time before seeing a change in their body shape, you have to ask yourself why these diets work so quickly. It is often because something important is missing from what you're getting in nutrients, and that can be just as dangerous as being overweight.

What the issue comes down to is that everyone needs something different from their food. The nutritional needs of an accountant will be extremely different from that of a professional athlete. The athlete will need a higher calorie and carb count because they are heavily physically active. An accountant will likely need lower calorie foods and things higher in protein and/or fiber due to a relatively sedentary lifestyle. It is important to discuss your dietary needs with a professional who knows what your daily life is like. The internet cannot give you a personalized plan, so you should never take a diet that you find on Google as something to jump into.

Here at CoolSculpting by ThinSculpting, we may be known for helping you get rid of fat but our main goal is to make sure that you are happy. We can't make sure that you're leading the healthiest life at home, but we can always give advice and warnings where they are due. Needing to lose weight can make people feel desperate, but it is never the right answer to simply stop eating or eat poorly. If you ever have a question about your diet, be sure to contact a licensed doctor.

Double Chins

Double Chins

One of the most infuriating thing that you can have in regards to your body and fat is a double chin. While the presence of a double chin doesn't automatically make someone overweight, it certainly doesn't seem like something that anyone would choose to have. While most of us can at least force ourselves to have one for silly pictures that we send to our friends every now and then, there are some people who have one all the time. Although a double chin doesn't have to be something negative, it is often listed under what someone would like to change about themselves. Here are a few things about double chins that we feel should be mentioned.

First of all, a double chin can exist for any number of reasons. While for some people it is because of their weight, for others it is simply genetic. If one of their parents has a double chin, odds are that they will as well. This is often extremely frustrating because they can be any weight and still have that extra flabbiness with no real way to get rid of it. It can seem like a small complaint, but many people do become extremely self-conscious of it and are willing to try any number of things to get rid of it.

Secondly, as we age our skin tends to lose its elasticity. This can often result in something like a double chin simply because the skin isn't as tight anymore. As if there weren't enough problems with growing old, this one had to be thrown in there too. While there isn't much that we can do about your skin's elasticity, we can definitely help to reduce the size of the fat cells in the area. Double chins are frustrating and often seem unsightly, but it's important to remember that ThinSculpting can help with all of these problem areas.

Arm Reduction

Arm Reduction

Now that the weather is starting to cool off, some things are easier. Walking around outside without feeling like you're going to melt, finding decorations for the holidays, and getting better rates at most hotels are just a few. Another thing that is easier to do as the temperature begins to drop is hiding those embarrassing parts of your body that you hate having to expose in the summer. When it's a question between risking heat stroke and showing off areas that have more fat than you're comfortable showing, the risk of heat stroke should always win. That doesn't mean that you should feel bad for not being happy about having to reveal those spots, though. One of the most common areas that people are uncomfortable with are their arms.

In the colder months, no one questions much when you have on long sleeves. They are great for keeping you warm and even if it's still a little warm outside, your office or work place may keep things cold. This means that you can easily toss a sweater on over a lot of the shorter sleeve clothes that you have and still feel comfortable both in temperature and appearance. When it's warm, however, it's always a bit strange to see someone with long sleeves or a sweater on. While some people have different levels of comfort with temperature, it's not common to see someone with long sleeves on in 90-100ºF weather. It's also probably not healthy for you to do that due to issues such as heat exhaustion. Thankfully we have a solution for you.

Here at CoolSculpting by ThinSculpting, we know how important it is that you're comfortable in your own skin. We also know how difficult that can be. Although frustrating, arm flab is not uncommon and many people do their best to cover up the fact that they have the same issue. We're here to tell you that you don't need to cover it up, but we can help get rid of it. By using an FDA-cleared procedure that freezes fat cells until they reduce in size, we can help you feel free from the flab that you have lived with for ages now. With locations in Raleigh, Durham, and Cary, the Triangle Region has never looked better. We know how scary it can be to try something new, but we can help you find the thin that is in you!

The Different Kinds of Weight

The Different Kinds of Weight

Not all weight is created equal. If you think about what a five pound bag of sugar looks like versus a five pound box of craft stuffing, you'll see what I mean. Both weigh the same, but they get there in very different ways. If you were only looking at the number on the scale, however, you would never know that there was a difference at all. So what does this have to do with you and your body? Well, just like the stuffing and the sugar are different kinds of weight due to their innate density, you have different kinds of weight inside you as well.

The type of weight that we think about most when we talk about it in regards to the number you see when you step on the scale is fat. Fat is the kind of weight that you want to have less of. While you are never going to want to have 0% body fat, you do want to keep this number relatively low. Fat is the type of weight that most people don't like seeing on themselves. The important thing to remember, however, is that it is not the only thing that can cause the scale to read so high.

Anything and everything has weight. This means that absolutely everything that makes up your body will react with gravity to have a certain number attached to it. The density of different parts of your body will change the number. Bone will weigh different than blood, just the same as the sugar and the stuffing. Muscle, for example, weighs more than fat. This is why it is important to remember that not every number on the scale is created equally. It is also a good idea to consider your measurements and such when you are thinking about your weight.

If you are not happy with how you look regardless of how much muscle vs fat you have, give ThinSculpting a call. With offices in Raleigh, Durham, and Cary, we are conveniently located throughout the Triangle Region. A simple call to 800-8THIN-YOU will help you to make an appointment with one of our certified CoolSculpting technicians and get the ball rolling so that you can love the way you look and get rid of some of those problem areas. All you need to do is call and find the thin that is in you!
